Most of the time, we are occupied by problems—grudges even. Imagine that there are beasts inside you. It was a toxic experience.
I pray and ask for guidance when I'm in these situations. Then, I allow myself to look around and do something good for others. In this way, I release good hormones, and when I see the smile of others, my heart feels right. It makes the world better, one little step at a time.
These tidbits of kindness are contagious; if that kindness is passed on, it can multiply. I once remember teaching a story about the bond paper with a dot of pentel pen. We tend to focus on the dot instead of the white space of the bond paper. Sometimes, we only see the negativities that come our way and refuse to acknowledge the positives we are blessed with. This usually happens because we let ourselves be moved by our egos instead of compassion. We get hurt through words; however, we also do not know how to showcase our gratitude in the blessing we are showered with.
At the end of the day, we are not getting any younger. Let us invest our time in activities that make us happy and in ways that allow us to serve others. Through this, we help create change that makes our society better.
