Bakit r3d3ye?

PATAY!

Puyat…nagpapahalaga..r3d3ye..pula mata.

May kilala kang tikyo? Talo kita.

TO GO” or FOR HERE”.

(thug..thug..thug.)3 points!

Ano bang outlet nyo ngayon?

note: mom and pop means
  • pakikipagnegosyong mga illegal..hilig sa under the table o lagayan

lahat at malalagpasan mararamdaham..pait man o kaligayan..

Gusto kong matutong mag drive

Ayun, nakulitan siguro at pumayag.

MANO MANO TRIP

NENE

I

Coda:
Pinapasayaw ka palagi…

Typhoon death toll soars

http://newsinfo.inq7.net/inquirerheadlines/nation/view_article.php?article_id=23977

‘Milenyo’ exits; massive relief, cleanup launched

By Marlon Ramos, Christine Avendaño
Inquirer
Last updated 03:10am (Mla time) 09/30/2006

Published on page A1 of the September 30, 2006 issue of the Philippine Daily Inquirer

EMERGENCY workers mounted massive relief and cleanup operations as the death toll from Typhoon “Milenyo” (international name: Xangsane) soared yesterday following reports of landslides in Laguna and the collapse of a dam in Cavite.

As the deadliest typhoon to directly hit Metro Manila in over a decade roared out toward Vietnam, disaster officials told President Macapagal-Arroyo that the damage wrought on crops, infrastructure and property was now running into hundreds of millions of pesos and still counting.

Ms Arroyo told the nation that the government would “spare no effort to get the people and communities back to their feet.”

She said that while caring for the victims was the first priority, she had ordered all agencies to monitor the prices of basic commodities and forestall profiteering, quickly restore power in many areas in Luzon and rapidly clear debris and hazards.

The death toll stood at 72 based on reports from local officials gathered by Inquirer reporters in the affected provinces, including those in the Visayas.

Among those killed were five people in Gen. Trias, Cavite, who drowned after they went out to check on the rising water level in Butas Dam—only to end up being swept away after the dam burst and swamped them, Mayor Jonjon Ferrer said.

Thirty others were missing in the incident.

At least 11 people were killed in two landslides caused by the onslaught of the typhoon in two towns in Laguna.

Worst hit was the scenic town of Los Baños, where nine people from an upland village were buried alive under a pile of boulders and mud from Mt. Makiling.

Supt. Steve Ludan, chief of the 406th Laguna police mobile group, said the victims were inside several houses in Barangay Bagong Silang when mountain rocks and mud came cascading at around 10:30 a.m.

The victims included children aged 2 and 7.

Two other people were killed in another landslide caused by heavy rains in Calauan town, also in Laguna.

Slim chance

Eight others were still missing in the two landslide incidents, police said.

“If you can only see what happened here, you’ll realize that it’s just impossible for anyone to survive this incident. But we’re hoping for the best,” Ludan told the Inquirer.

Tallies gathered by Inquirer reporters had 20 people dead in Quezon, 15 in the Bicol region, 13 in Cavite, 11 in Laguna, five in Eastern Visayas, four in Metro Manila, two in Batangas and two in Bulacan.

Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita said Malacañang was not yet ready to declare Metro Manila and the other affected areas under a state of calamity until it got a clearer picture of the situation.

At a special Cabinet meeting she called to assess the situation, Ms Arroyo said:

“The welfare of the people comes first and our paramount objective is to save lives and homes, and make sure enough food, medicine and relief supplies are available.”

Tropical depression sighted

Defense Secretary Avelino Cruz, chair of the National Disaster Coordinating Council, said that another tropical depression had been spotted and was about “three or four days away from the Philippines.”

Weather bureau officials said the tropical depression, called Neneng, was about 2,000 km east of the Visayas and expected to enter the Philippine area of responsibility on Sunday.

“If it doesn’t change direction, it might also hit landfall somewhere in Luzon,” Cruz said.

Budget Secretary Rolando Andaya said his department was prepared to allocate P240 million in calamity funds to help ease the impact of Milenyo.

The typhoon affected 60,820 persons or 12,345 families.

Damage in Metro Manila

Total houses damaged stood at 235. There were also 1,026 houses partially damaged.

Civil defense Executive Director Anthony Golez said that for Region 8, the total damage to infrastructure, crops and fisheries already amounted to P133 million.

In Metro Manila, Metropolitan Manila Development Authority Chair Bayani Fernando said that the typhoon had damaged P100 million in landscaping and P30 million in traffic equipment.

Fernando said that it would take a week to clear the roads. In Metro Manila, 12 billboards were felled by the storm, he said.

So far, total damage to infrastructure in affected areas amounted to more than P100 million, according to Public Works and Highways Secretary Hermogenes Ebdane.

No trains running

Agriculture Secretary Domingo Panganiban said that his officials were still validating whether the palay crops could still be recovered in all the regions that had been affected.

“But we have a lot of losses of seaweeds and fish pens which are valued at approximately P125 million,” Panganiban said.

Transportation Secretary Leandro Mendoza said that the MRT, LRT, PNR trains were still non-operational but “as soon as there is restoration of electricity,” they should resume running.

The Department of Trade and Industry is tightly monitoring all markets in affected regions, according to Trade Secretary Peter Favila.

Mayor Ferrer said their search and rescue teams were looking for the other victims of the dam collapse in Gen. Trias.

“We are expecting the death toll to rise,” Ferrer said.

Dam suddenly broke

He said the victims were residents of Sunnybrooke Subdivision in Barangay San Francisco who had gone to check the water level at Butas Dam.

Ferrer said they were apparently trying to check if it was necessary for them to leave their homes and move to higher ground.

“Witnesses said part of the dam suddenly gave way as the dam was already swollen with water. The victims were then swept away by the water,” he said.

Ferrer said the age-old dam had been used primarily for irrigation and was built during the Spanish colonial period.

Cavite Gov. Erineo “Ayong” Maliksi has put the entire province under a state of calamity.

Maliksi said the typhoon ravaged mostly fruit trees and high-value crops like banana and coffee.

Back to normal

Domestic and international flights returned to normal yesterday but the Ninoy Aquino International Airport was jampacked with passengers.

“It is terrible!” one airport official told the Inquirer while inspecting the Naia 1 terminal.

Flights that arrived yesterday one after the other were nearly double the usual incoming flights that the Naia 1 accommodates on regular days.

A check made by the Inquirer showed that as of 3 p.m., there were some 25 flights mostly coming from Asia and the Middle East scheduled to arrive at the Naia 1 until midnight.

Missing yachtsmen

The typhoon left at least eight people missing after their yachts, including one that was supposed to serve as a floating restaurant, were battered by big waves on Manila Bay.

One of the missing was a crew member of the MY Limahong, which was dragged from the south entrance of the Manila Yacht Club in Manila at the height of Milenyo and sank near the Baclaran breakwater in Parañaque.

Five of its crew members were rescued by passing tankers.

Also reported missing was one crew member of the MY Tristar.

The Information Puzzle

Some observers are perplexed, and others infuriated, by what they think is IBM's contradictory stand on innovation. So let me explain.

By Sam Palmisano

Newsweek

Updated: 11:32 a.m. ET Dec. 2, 2005

Issues 2006 - In IBM's conversations with decision makers—from CEOs to university presidents to prime ministers and community leaders—we are hearing one question over and over: "How can I stimulate growth and economic development while also cutting costs?" Increasingly, the answer is one word: innovation. I agree entirely. The problem is that the nature of innovation is changing in important ways, driven by an increasingly open, networked and global economy. Knowing how to capture innovation's benefits requires rethinking old assumptions about creation and ownership.

IBM has a unique perspective on this topic. We have earned the most U.S. patents in each of the past 12 years by a very wide margin, yet we're also the leading business investor and innovator in the open movement. Some observers have been perplexed—and some partisans infuriated—by what looks to them like a contradictory position. But it's contradictory only if you miss the underlying patterns shaping innovation. The key for business leaders and policymakers alike is not to adopt a black or white position, but to work toward a balanced approach.

Let me try to simplify the issues with two key distinctions: between open source and open standards, and between intellectual property and intellectual capital. Open source is a method of tapping a community of experts to develop useful things. It began in software, but applies broadly, and is anything but anti-capitalist. It can raise quality at reduced costs, and vastly expands opportunities for profit. In a sense, open source fuels innovation much the way science fuels technology. Science is created by communities of experts, whose fundamental discoveries are typically made available to all, including individuals and companies that are able to capitalize on the new knowledge in novel ways. For IBM, the open-source model is familiar territory, given our long track record in the sciences.

Open standards, in contrast, are not a meth-odology, but an underlying condition for economic or social progress because they make possible the free flow of capital, information and ideas. A currency system is an open standard. A highway system is an open standard. The Bill of Rights is an open standard of sorts. The Internet's founding protocols—http, html, etc.—are important open standards. IBM has embracedopen standards over the past decade, and we're working in myriad ways to foster their adoption.

Now, to intellectual property vs. intellectual capital. I recently made a presentation on innovation at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Afterward, a discussion broke out. The top issue for these future technology leaders was how intellectual-property policy is impacting innovation in global economies. A couple of years ago, this was arcane stuff. Not anymore.

NEWSWEEK has described as "seismic" IBM's 2005 donation of more than 500 software patents for use by the open community. That was a strategic commitment, one we recently extended by pledging open access to thousands of IBM patents to designated health-care and education industry-standards organizations. Why do this? Some leaders in business, academia and government find it counterintuitive.

Let me explain. More and more of the innovation that truly matters today functions not only as intellectual property (the brilliant work of individuals), but as intellectual capital (a deep well of knowledge created collaboratively). As with open standards, this is about enlarging the pie and fostering innovation on top of what is available to all. And it's not about gizmos, but about new enterprise models—such as "networkless" telecoms, online auctions or real-time retail systems. Our intellectual-property laws, based on an earlier paradigm, will have to catch up.

In the end, the new, emerging model of collaborative innovation—balancing different aspects of openness and different kinds of ownership, and drawing on the historic and deeply productive relationship between science and technology—has the simplicity and clarity that we always find in big, game-changing shifts. Yes, it certainly is challenging many old assumptions. But that puts it, as a paradigm for future growth and progress, in pretty good company.

Hi. One other thing, the reason mail is piling up in /var/spool/mqueue (I'm assuming you meant mqueue rather than mail) is because you don't have your domain/server in the /etc/mail/local-host-names file. Update that file, then restart sendmail and those messages will bounce.

People, Processes and Technology

André Spatz: People, Processes and Technology

By Andre Spatz with Brad Wieners

First principles for managing IT in a global organization.

People, processes and technology—these three, in that order, are the keys to managing any successful it organization. To gain the best results in each of these key areas, a cio should emphasize skills and competencies, services management and governance, and, as the organization matures, implement an adequate project investment portfolio. More specifically, to build a global it organization that delivers business benefits, consider the following:

Centralize the entire IT function

Treat IT as a service business within the context of the larger organization.

Enforce global standards and reduce the technology footprint

Standardize and streamline the technology footprint, including the number of strategic partners you deal with. But allow for standards that permit localization.

Validate the strategy "on the road"

Present the IT strategy as a hypothesis, and take it around the world as a management road show, testing and validating it with the divisions and local management teams. Continue these road shows during and after the strategy has been implemented to obtain feedback and make adjustments.

Be consistent

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, be consistent, repeat yourself and enforce your principles. Lessons learned are only valuable when applied.

Deliver on your promises

Demonstrate short-term results and balance them with your long-term goals.

Establish standard skill sets and competencies

Enable staff rotation to foreign offices without re-training.

No technology in a vacuum

No IT projects, only business projects with IT components

No management in a vacuum

No IT project without business and IT owners, and no "sponsors," please, only committed and accountable "owners" for results and completion.

Build a multicultural framework

Have an appreciation of what it takes to bring people of different cultures together. Without it you cannot achieve globalization.

Develop a "mosaic view" of the world

Understand how IT, business and processes are related. When one piece changes, it impacts somewhere else because it is part of an integrated, global picture.

Never stop making the rounds

Appreciate cultural diversity, as it is the only way to lead a multicultural workforce.

Trabaho (Tula ni Meric Mara)

Pamangat ng tula: Trabaho
May akda: Meric B. Mara

kahit mahirap…may matatamo..
tamang kinabukasan sa mga minamahal mo..
tamang trabaho…walang gantso..

Hello everybody out there using minix -
I'm doing a (free) operating system (just a hobby, won't be big and
professional like gnu) for 386(486) AT clones. This has been brewing
since april, and is starting to get ready.I'd like any feedback on
things people like/dislike in minix, as my OS resembles it somewhat
(same physical layout of the file-system(due to practical reasons)
among other things). I've currently ported bash(1.08) and gcc(1.40),and
things seem to work. This implies that I'll get something practical within a
few months, andI'd like to know what features most people would want. Any
suggestions are welcome, but I won't promise I'll implement them :-)
Linus (torvalds@kruuna.helsinki.fi)
PS. Yes - it's free of any minix code, and it has a multi-threaded fs.
It is NOT protable (uses 386 task switching etc), and it probably never
will support anything other than AT-harddisks, as that's
all I have :-(.

Tula para kay Koen

maligayang kaarawan kwang kwang ko.. =)

Pamagat: Koen (maligayang kaarawan)

May Akda: dada (Meric B. Mara)

Lahat ay sumasariwa di kailan man iwawala

Maligayang bati mahal kong Koen...

..let's celebrate..happy birthday koen..

Koen's favorite poem "DON't QUIT"
kabisado nya yugn 2 years old sya.

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you're trudging seems all up hill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest if you must, but don't you quit.

Life is queer with its twists and turns,
As everyone of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about
When he might have won had he stuck it out;
Don't give up, though the pace seems slow -
You might succeed with another blow.

Often the goal is nearer than
It seems to a faint and faltering man,
Often the struggler has given up
When he might have captured the victor's cup.
And he learned too late, when the night slipped down,
How close he was to the golden crown.

Success is failure turned inside out -
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt -
And you never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems afar;
So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit -
It's when things seem worst that you mustn't quit.

Plagiarism..talamak pala talaga

sabi ni mr. wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plagiarism

Plagiarism
is a form of cheating, and within academia is seen as academic dishonesty. It is a matter of deceit: fooling a reader into believing that certain written material is original when it is not. Plagiarism is a serious and punishable academic offense, when the goal is to obtain some sort of personal academic credit or personal recognition.

thanks professor ms. rowena punzalan for emailing me the images.

COMMUNICATE THE FUNDAMENTALS

===========
COMMUNICATE THE FUNDAMENTALS

For people to be productive and satisfied professionally, they have to know what their fundamental responsibilities are. It sounds so simple, but Peter Drucker says one of the critical problems in the workplace today is that there is a lack of understanding between the employer and employee as to what the employee is to do. Often employees are made to feel they are vaguely responsible for everything. It paralyzes them. Instead, we need to make clear to them what they are and are not responsible for. Then they will be able to focus their efforts on what we want, and they will succeed.

Look again at how a basketball team works. Each of the five players has a particular job. There is a shooting guard whose job is to score points. The other guard is a point guard. His job is to pass the ball to people who can score. Another player is a power forward who expected to get rebounds. The small forward’s job is to score. The center is supposed to rebound, block shots, and score. Each person on the team knows what his job is, what his unique contribution to the team must be. When each concentrates on his particular responsibilities, the team can win.

One of the best ways to clarify expectations is to provide your people with job descriptions. In the description, identify the four to six primary functions you want the person to perform. Avoid long laundry lists of responsibilities. If the job description can’t be summarized, the job is probably too broad. Also try to make clear what authority they have, the working parameters for each function they are to perform, and what the chain of authority is within the organization.

Another essential that has to be communicated to new leaders is how they are to prioritize. I tell people that everything they do is either an “A” or a “B” priority. The concept helps them understand what is more important.

“A” priorities are ones that move the organization, department, or job function forward. They break ground, open doors to new opportunities, or develop new markets. They prompt growth within people or the organization. “B” priorities are concerned with maintenance. They are required for things to continue running smoothly, such as answering letters or phone calls, and taking care of details. They are things that cannot be neglected, but they don’t add value to the organization. I have found that people often expend their best on “B” priorities because they seem urgent, and they give “A” priorities what’s left over. I always encourage my people to give 80 percent of their time and energy to the “A” priorities and remaining 20 percent to the “B” group.

Finally, a leader must communicate to his or her people that their work has value to the organization and to the individual leader. To the employee, this often is the most important fundamental of all.

===================

Nearly everything a leader does hinges on the type of vision he has.

If his vision is small, so will be his results and his followers. A high-ranking French official who understood this concept once expressed it thus when addressing Winston Churchill: “If you are doing big things, you attract big men. If you are doing little things, you attract little men. Little men usually cause trouble.” An effective vision attracts winners.

Too often people limit their own potential. They think small. They are afraid of risk. People no longer willing to stretch are no longer able to grow. As author Henry Drummond says, “Unless a man undertakes more than possibly can do, he will never do all he can do.”

Dear God,
