Tamang tao

    Sa point of view ng ibang tao. Ang kayamanan ng kumpanya ay ang mga tao at dapat 'wag itong papabayaan. Sa point of view ng mga may-ari ng kumpanya, alagaan lang ang mga "tamang" tao na naka align sa adhikain na syang tunay na kayamanan na hindi dapat pabayaan..gawing mong kasama at kanegosyo kung maari. Na lahat ng iyan ay nagdedepende din sa kapasidad ng isang kumpanya.

    Kaya ineencourage ko na mag tayo kayo ng kumpanya ng maranasan nyong mag-alaga ng tao at makatulong kayo sa ekonomiya (pag-nagawa nyo na..tsaka tayo magusap ng mga karanasan). Walang magagawa ang mga akala lalo ngayong may COVID19. Hanaping maigi ang lugar kung saan ninyo maeexercise ang inyong husay na nagbibigay halaga sa inyong sarili,pamilya,lipunan at bansa... higit sa iyong bulsa.

    Madami ding mga taong puro satsat lang ngunit wala namang ibubuga. Nagtayo ng kumpanya ngunit nagsasara at hindi makapag alaga ng mga tamang tao...tapos, magbubulalas na dapat alagaan ang mga tao na syang kayamanan ng kumpanya.

Mag-isip at gumanap ng marahan ngunit magkasilbi.

8Layer: Celebrating its 16th anniversary amid challenges this 2021

It was really hard for us to celebrate our 16th year in the industry as the pandemic affects us on how we work. We are in a serious national health crisis situation and most of us are praying just to survive this issue. The cases of COVID19 in our country is getting higher everyday. Some of our friends were not able to win the fight against it. Face mask, face shield, social distancing, video calling and work from home and so on and so forth are now the NEW NORMAL. Thank God, He is always there for us, guiding us and making sure that we are blessed to be the blessings to others.

I remember this quote from Sun Tzu.

“In the midst of chaos, there is also opportunity.” – Sun Tzu

We are just fortunate enough because we are gifted with this talent in technology and guided by our hearts to help this country in our own little ways. We are still alive and operating in this new normal.

Now even with COVID19, our country is getting worst because of traditional politicians. We are still here to continue to do our advocacy work and share our knowledge in the community.

We are actively and continuously doing our R&D to come up with new solutions to help this country.As for our expansion and hunger to deliver good solutions, we still have the bandwidth and desire to continuously look for Filipino developers who are concerned enough in helping this country, not just their working codes.

I'm very thankful to have a good and mature team, friends and consultants who are competent, professionals and dedicated to do their work and are always there to share their talents. And because of that, we were able to bring our methodology to the next level. It’s really a good steering wheel for us and it will keep us guided in the things that we intend to do.

As for my last message, I want to thank all our clients, partners, co-advocates, friends and families who help us fuel our operation, inspire us on the things that we do and give us the drive to do more. We owe this to all of you!

What to expect from us these coming years:

-We will be expanding our satellite offering to serve the underserved and to make sure that internet will be available to almost all areas of the Philippines.

-New version of our solutions will be launched for Cyber Security and Software Development.

-We will be active in IOT area and agri technology as we want to be of help and be of service in this field.

-We will start by recruiting more Geekineers and partners in the provinces to help us expand our operations.

We will always live by our mantra, “Be more, Be Useful and Be of Service.”

Para sa aming Nanay

Wala lang akong naririnig ng tilaok ng Manok ngunit mag 4am na din. Hindi pa din ako makatulog.
Kakatapos ko kasing makausap ang bunso naming kapatid na si Kaka at pinag-uusapan namin ang kondisyon ng aming Nanay. Nanunubalik sa akin ang mga nakaraan ng kanyang kalakasan. Nanumbalik din sa aking mga ala-ala  ang maayos na pag-tataguyod at mga pangaral sa amin magkakapatid. Tandang-tanda ko pa ang kanyang mga ngiti para sa pag-sisilbi para sa mga kababayan natin. Naging Kagawad din kasi sya at maraming oras ang kanyang itinatapon sa aming Barangay, para sa paglilingkod sa Bayan.

Kaya patuloy ko lang syang pinagdadasal sa kabila ng kanyang kasalukuyang kondisyon. Patuloy lang din ang pag-suporta sa para kayang mga pangangailangan. Ako at nga ngalan ang aming Pamilya, ay lubos ding nagpapasalamat sa inyong walang sawang panalangin para sa aking Nanay. Nawa'y gantimpalaan pa sya ng lakas upang mapaglabanan ang kanyang sitwasyon. Umaasa kaming hindi kami pababayan ng Pangioon sa laban na ito.

Carrier Unlock your old Iphone Xs in 3 easy steps

It was a fine Saturday and I made myself busy by unlocking the carrier of my old Iphone XS. Let me share you this simple hack. Here are the things needed for this experiment:

1. Your IPhone (syempre 😛)
1. IOS version 14.4
2. GPP Chip

Now, let's get our hands dirty.

STEP 1:
First, if you're using an old version of IOS, upgrade it to 14.4. My iphone has 14.2 so I upgraded it to 14.4 by doing this.

    Go to Settings > General > Software Update.
    Tap Download and Install.

Make sure you’re connected to your Wi-Fi and just follow the screen on your IOS until the upgrade is finished.

STEP 2:
Get your GPP chip and insert it into your SIM tray then put it on top of your sim that you want to use. (in my case, it's a SMART SIM). Once this is done, you will be prompted with the menu. Simply select "Edit ICCID". It will automatically assign 20 digits ICCID and just press Send. 

STEP 3:
After clicking the send button for ICCID, it will give you another menu and simply select 3G/4G ICCID Mode.  Then it will prompt you that the setup is Ok! You may now restart your phone.

FINALLY!  It’s now unlocked and ready to use! You may then remove the GPP chip and enjoy using your phone.

Last night, I had a good conversation with my friends and fellow Rotarians (Rex Britos, Joshua Maquiling and Allan Sanchez) and we've been discussing things on inspiring the new generation about IT and entrepreneurship. Thus, I opted to share these three (3) important things that happened to me and to one of my companies, 8layer Technologies, Inc.

1. MONEY ALONE DOESN’T MATTER, IT is about solving issues in society.

Most of the wrong notions about having a company is that you will become an instant millionaire". It's actually a BIG JOKE. Money is just one of the rewards on how you do things. The most important reward of an entrepreneur is when he/she was able to solve big issues in society. It’s an achievement to us especially if we’re able to succeed without being boastful. Always remember that “Businesses Driven By Values Succeed in the Long Run”. That’s why you have to let your values attract your team to contribute for this country and you will be a successful business owner.

2. IT is a fast evolving industry and a good tool to boost other domains.

Learning new things as much as possible is a good method to sharpen the saw. Read books, talk to the elders, share your knowledge to the community. In short..don't stop learning. Learning changes things. After that, start to act on what you’ve learned. In our company, the term "Aksyon" is very important. Action speaks louder than words.

ie. We don't know anything on Emergency Management but we are trained in Information Technology. Instead of watching and doing nothing, we acted by collaborating with people who are domain experts in emergency management. Then we used IT, from satellite connectivity to call management and dispatch management and incorporating Bigdata and Cyber Security. We believe that we were able to contribute by helping our public servants in doing public service properly with the use of IT. Emergency Management is not a thing of the past now. It is modern and data driven and more effective than before.

In IT, there are lots of domains that we can still improve on as long as collaboration is open and improvement will always be welcome.   

3. Don't lost hope. Magpatuloy at 'wag matakot.

People come and go. It's normal! Most of the time, you will remove people because they violate ethical issues in your company. Sometimes, it's just a strategic approach to streamline your team. Remember that there is a BIG difference between "People and "Right" People". Those who understand and embrace the company vision is far from those who just go to work for the sake of salary. If people who got out or resigned, got terminated from our team became better people, we are very proud of them. We are proud to see people growing and making their way in doing their jobs in helping this country. Simply improve your Human Resource strategy and always be a keeper and protector of the vision so that growth will be fast and whatever happens, you are always on track.

Process is also important. Have time to review the things that you've done yearly and find time to improve it. I remember that we started way back 2005 and executing "Half of 8" Methodology and now its a full fledged methodology that is bespoke and very useful in our organization..it's called 8layer Methodology. Its very important to develop a company-specific design process to automate, monitor and make our operations understandable and easy to cascade to all people in our company.  

I am very proud to say that from 2005 to now, 2021, we are still breathing and doing our contribution to the nation building in our small ways. Imagine this company started without a single penny, all we have is a drive to be More, Be Useful and Be of Service to our fellow Filipinos. Our main investment is our talents, love for our country and love to share and to open source some of our works so that others can learn and evolve it to something that can be beneficial to others.

SRT Protocol

SRT Protocol is really cool and when we talk about low latency video streaming over unpredictable network, SRT is the right technology for this. I've been  studying this for the past few days and the more info I learned about it the more I become in love with it. It really overcomes the network condition that hinder real-time audio, video and metadata. It's really fantastic!

Una sa lahat, Maraming salamat kay Papa God ganun din sa lahat ng mga Kamag-anak, kaibigan, partners, clients, ka-kalasag, ka-advocates atbp na hindi natinag upang suportahan ang ating mga adhikain. 2021 Budget Planning and Reporting para sa 8layer

 

Hinding-hindi po kami papayag ng walang mai-aambag para sa pag-unlad nitong nag-hihingalong inang bayan. Dinulot ito ng mga makasariling interest at pag-papabaya sa tungkuling bayan ng ilang mga lider sa ating bansa. Lahat naman tayo ay may magagawa... kailangan lang lagi na may magsimula.

Isang taon na ang lumipas ngunit parang kahapon lang at tandang-tanda ko pa noong sinagot mo ako, o asawa ko ng "I do". Laging sariwa ang pakiramdam at daig ko pa ang nanalo sa lotto. Wala akong maisip na panukat sa nadarama maliban sa malinaw na akin ka na at buo na ako. Parang magic! Pantastik!

Naalala ko na naman bigla ang aking mga pangako sa iyo na ngayon ay isa ng awitin na bukod sa ating dalawa ay kinakanta na din ng karamihan. Yan ang "Ikaw Ang Uunahin" ika nga, Alam ko lang ako'y sa iyo at ikay lagi sa puso ko...magpakailan pa man. Mag kasama sa saya at kalungkutan.

Parang sa pagdaan ng panahon eh lalong pabata ng pabata ang pakiramdam na para akong superhero dahil meron akong superpower na "ikaw". Ang sarap isipin na ang ating pag-iisang dibdib ay syang blessing sa mga iilan lalo sa mga taong nakapaligid sa atin. Walang pag-dadamot,bukas palad at bukas puso ang dulot ng iyong pag-mamahal na sana'y nasusuklian ko. Bilib din ako sa ating pag-yabong sa bawat araw na nagdaraan. Bakit kamo? Siksik,liglig at umaapaw ang biyaya ng pag-mamahalan.

Kitang-kita ko din ang malaking pag-babago sa aking mga gawi dahil iyan sa iyong respeto,tiwala at pag-ibig. "Better person" ba kamo? Nya-nya! Mas nakita ko ang aking potensyal at mas nagagawa nating sabay ang madaming bagay ng may saysay. Pakinabang din para sa sarili,sa iyo, sa ating mga pamilya at mga taong nagtitiwala sa atin. Lahat kasama sa pag-yabong ng pag-ibig.

Maraming salamat sa pag-ibig! Mahal na mahal kita! Uulit-ulitin ko ito "kasi gusto ko syang 'wag mawala sa aking puso".
